Swiss Prime Site Immobilien develops products for future markets

Foundation stone laid for leading-edge YOND project in Zurich
On Thursday, 28 September 2017, a ceremony was held in Zurich Albisrieden, at which the foundation stone for the innovative YOND complex was laid and details of the new building project were presented. Speeches were made on behalf of Swiss Prime Site Immobilien, as well as by Dr. André Odermatt, the City Councillor overseeing the City of Zurich Construction Department, and Dr. Patrik Schellenbauer, the Chief Economist of Avenir Suisse, a free-market, independent think tank dedicated to promoting Switzerland’s future. The unique structure of the YOND project is designed to appeal to SMEs from a variety of sectors. Its purpose is to accommodate service and production providers under one roof, thus generating added value for all its tenants. The project offeres units with two floors suitable for a wide range of uses which can also be modified as tenants’ needs evolve. As Dr. Patrik Schellenbauer, Chief Economist at Avenir Suisse, points out, «This building project is fully in tune with today’s modern trends. It provides units and floorspace which can be individually and creatively adapted to suit current market requirements». Since this is the first project in Switzerland whose entire planning and realisation process will be carried out in accordance with lean construction principles, it will also be a pioneering example for the Swiss real estate industry. As City Councillor Dr. André Odermatt sees it, «This innovative building complex is a shining example. It will attract interest and attention beyond the boundaries of our city and canton». Under the construction plan, the first units in the YOND complex will be ready for occupation by their new tenants by mid 2019.
